Abstract

. The ancient Bakharz peasant community in Greater Khorasan has its own dictionary; the present study, which is of a fundamental type and aims to examine the dictionary of names and terms of the Bakharz peasant community, seeks to answer this main question: How has the dictionary of the peasant community been formed in the biogeography of Bakharz? The method of the present study is a combination of descriptive-analytical methods, relying on folk literature and oral history. The author has prepared the present study based on the cognitive experiences he has of the culture of the ancient Bakharz people. The findings of the study indicate that the dictionary of the ancient Bakharz peasant community is very rich, having been formed under the influence of its biogeography. The naming of many settlements and its chronological terms and indigenous knowledge is influenced by geography. In addition, under the influence of the biogeography of Bakharz, a specific literature and legal system have emerged that affect the lives of the people. The Bakharz peasant society is a model of Iranian societies that, under the influence of its biogeography, has formed its own unique vocabulary, which is interconnected with water and development.
